Bank Negara’s international reserves rise to US$109.2bil

KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara’s international reserves rose to US$109.2bil as at July 29, 2022, from US$107bil as at July 15, 2022.

In a statement, the central bank said the reserves position is sufficient to finance 5.8 months of imports of goods and services, and is 1.1 times of the total short-term external debt.

Bank Negara said the main components of the international reserves were foreign currency reserves (US$97.2bil), International Monetary Fund reserves position (US$1.3bil), special drawing rights (US$5.7bil), gold (US$2.3bil) and other reserve assets (US$2.7bil).
